As you may already know, Pride without Borders, is a project that is run in Leicester for asylum seekers and refugees who also identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transsexual’s (LGBT). The project was born when some individuals, began realising that as more individuals came to Leicester to seek asylum, some were here specifically for who they were and are. To be more specific, they were living in constant fear of persecution, abuse and their lives because they were different, they were LGBT’s. Who where they terrified of? There’s a long list which includes but is not limited to: countries perception, Law, religion, communities and even their own families would execute emotional, psychological and physical abuse. When they arrive to the UK as asylum seekers, they hope they will find a sanctuary, a place of more freedom.  Pride without Borders wants to provide that secure place, where individuals feel comfortable and confident to seek out help to empower themselves in a variety of ways.
